'Aquinas Lecture' set for Jan. 24 at University of St. Thomas
The University of St. Thomas will host the "2013 Aquinas Lecture" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 in Houston.
According to the school's website, "The University of St. Thomas Center for Thomistic Studies will host the Rev. Kevin Flannery of the Pontifical Gregorian University as he gives this year's Aquinas Lecture, titled 'The Capacious Mind of Thomas Aquinas.' Following the thought of Aquinas, the church occasionally calls upon Christians to make difficult choices. Is there a good reason to follow Aquinas in such regards? Flannery argues that, yes, there is."
The event, open to the public, will be held at the school's Cullen Hall, 4001 Mount Vernon St.
Founded by the Basilian Fathers in 1947, the University of St. Thomas is Houston's only Catholic university. The school has a total enrollment of 3,754 students and 1,609 undergraduate students representing 40 states and 58 countries. The school offers 32 undergraduate and 10 graduate degree programs.
