Houston ISD launches redesigned website
The Houston Independent School District launched its redesigned district website, it was recently announced.
The site, www.houstonisd.org, was upgraded to improve user experience in finding necessary information, according to a press release.
Key features of the site include improved compatibility with mobile devices, revamped school search tools, school bus stop database, allergens in school meals database, parent videos and an HISD news blog.
"The district's website receives nearly nine million page views per month," said Superintendent Terry Grier, in the press release. "We turned to parents, staff, students, and community members to get their thoughts on how to improve the site, and then used that feedback to shape the content and design."
The site is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese and was built using the Schoolwires content management system.
Currently, 188 of the district's 279 schools use the same system for their individual campus websites.
Parents and community members are welcome to explore the new site and share feedback with the district web team by emailing web@houstonisd.org.
The Houston ISD is at 4400 W. 18th St., Houston.
