Heights man blames construction company for rollerblading accident

A Heights in-line skater is suing after, he says, he suffered serious injuries at an area trail when he mistook a carelessly placed pressure hose for a concrete seam.

Heights resident Anthony J. Padon filed a lawsuit on July 26 in the Harris County District Court against Lone Star Road Construction, citing negligence.

Padon says on Oct. 30, 2011, a rollerblading accident caused him to catapult through the air, land hard on his left shoulder and lose most of the skin from his left hip and leg. The accident happened after he rollerbladed over a pressure hose that the defendant carelessly left across a West Oak Bayou Trail sidewalk, according to the brief.

The suit alleges there were no signs to warn skaters of the hose, which resembled a seam in the concrete.

Padon is seeking damages and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Patrick Connell McGinnis.
