HPARD ends junior tennis lessons with National Junior Tennis and Learning Kids Day
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department hosted its National Junior Tennis and Learning Kids Day on July 26 in the Memorial Park Tennis Center.
The event was held to honor those who completed several tennis classes offered throughout the city. The youth tennis classes have been made possible through grants from the United States Tennis Association.
Hundreds of junior tennis students and their families gathered for the event celebrating all of the new skills acquired throughout the classes. Assistant Director of Houston Parks and Recreation Department Kenneth Allen, along with City Council Member Mike Sullivan and the 2012 winner of the USTA National Arthur Ashe essay contest, Halle Brazda, joined the families for the event.
Brazda, one of 10 national winners, received an all-expense paid trip to New York City for Arthur Ashe Kids Day, the opening event of the 2012 U.S. Open on Aug. 25.
