Houston Parks and Recreation Department hosted a tennis camp that ended July 26.

A celebration of achievements July 26 marked the end of this year's Houston Parks and Recreation Department's summer junior tennis program.

The event celebrated the accomplishments of students who attended the program at 37 parks across the city.

One of the goals of the National Junior Tennis and Learning program is to develop young people's character by emphasizing a commitment to positive youth development, the importance of education and tennis as a lifetime sport, according to a press release.

In addition to NJTL students celebrating and showcasing the skills learned from the camp, the event featured art and writing contest entries. The program was hosted by the parks department at Memorial Park Tennis Center, 1500 Memorial Loop Drive, Houston.

Funding for the program is provided by grants from the United States Tennis Association and the Houston Tennis Association.
