Center for Houston's Future to host community panel
The Center for Houston's Future will host its August Summer Salon from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.
A 2012 report from the Center for Houston's Future shows that college graduates will not be able to fill the community's most in-demand positions. The region has a number of professions in demand with a shortage of talent.
My Degree Counts: A Regional Talent Initiative panelists will address these problems and discuss solutions for the near future, including an initiative to boost postsecondary degrees by at least 1 percent this year.
The panel will be led by Claudia Vasquez, senior vice president and chief program officer of Neighborhood Centers Inc., and Steve Amstutz, the executive director of Discover U.
The event is part of the Summer Salons Series, allowing community members to meet and speak with experts working on community issues.
The Summer Salon will be held at Canopy, 3939 Montrose Blvd., in Houston. To register, email lmcloone@futurehouston.org.
