Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark to hold skateboarding event
The Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark will host a youth recreational skateboarding event for young people ages 6-17 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 18.
This free event will feature all-terrain skateboarding to demonstrate general proficiency across all park areas. Participants will show their abilities with free movement from ground levels, through transitions and over ledges and barriers. Skaters will also apply stylistic maneuvers and variety to highlight their rides, according to a press release.
All attendees will receive an award for their efforts. Organizers will highlight a productive approach and encouraging tone, according to the release.
Registration will take place on the day of the event at the skate park, which is located at 103 Sabine St. at Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston.
The event is sponsored by Public Use Skate Parks for Houston.
