Menil Collection to show letters, drawings from archives
Letters, notes and drawings from the Menil Archives are now on display at the museum.
According to a press release, Menil Curator Michelle White and Menil Archivist Geraldine Aramanda organized the event, titled "Dear John and Dominique," which celebrates the lives and vision of founders John and Dominique de Menil along with the 25th anniversary of the museum.
The items on display will feature decades of correspondence from the museum's founders to close friends, artists, curators, museum directors, architects and scholars from all over the world in a gallery designed as a reading room.
The event will also feature the launch of "Voice of Menil," a cellphone walk around the Menil neighborhood that will highlight the vision of the founders and the diversity of the museum neighborhood, according to the press release. The walk features 17 sites and stops.
The exhibit opens Aug. 10 and will run through Jan. 6, 2013, at the museum, located at 1533 Sul Ross St., Houston. For more information, call 713-525-9400 or visit menil.org.
