Southern Association of Colleges and Schools reaffirms HCC accreditation

Houston Community College has its accreditation reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges on June 21.

This is the fourth time in the history of the school that Houston Community College has received accreditation. It was first accredited in 1977, then in 1982 and then again in 2002.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges is one of six regional accredited agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education. It is responsible for college accreditation in 11 Southern states.

Houston Community College offers associate degrees, certifications and workforce training at its campuses. It is composed of six colleges and serves 75,000 students.
