Police investigate fatal shooting at 2000 Tuam St.

A homeowner killed one man and wounded another during an alleged robbery attempt June 28 at 2000 Tuam St., Heights.

Police said the shooter was home alone when the two men forced their way into his house through a glass front door just after 6 p.m.

The 39-year-old homeowner, who feared for his life, warned the alleged robbers before firing several shots, according to a Houston Police Department press release.

Medics arrived and reportedly transported one 20-year-old suspect to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The second suspect fled the scene in a gold vehicle, which was discovered a short distance away.

Officers later discovered a 21-year-old male with a gunshot wound at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is believed to be the second robbery suspect.
