Texas Medical Center to hold tour and luncheon

The Texas Medical Center will hold a tour from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 26.

The tour will depart from the lobby of Two Allen Center, 1200 Smith St. in Houston, and the luncheon will be held at the Hornberger Conference Center, 2151 W. Holcombe Blvd. in Houston.

Richard Wainerdi has been at the helm of the Texas Medical Center for more than 28 years. Under his tenure as president and CEO, the medical center has seen unprecedented growth and prominence.

At the luncheon, Mark Wallace, president and CEO of Texas Children's Hospital, and Dan Wolterman, president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, will pay tribute to Wainerdi.

The tour will offer guests information on hospitals and their specialties, leading medical schools, cutting-edge research facilities and future growth. The group will tour the medical center and then walk to the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, where its president and CEO, Mauro Ferrari, will discuss the technologies they are developing and the importance of the collaboration between medical science and business at the MHRI.

Guests can take the tour, attend the luncheon or do both. The tour costs $95 for members and $130 for nonmembers. The luncheon costs $65 for members and $95 for nonmembers. Tables of 10 are available for $700 to members and $1,000 to nonmembers.
