Houston Chamber Choir to hold concert
Works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and The Who will be featured during the Houston Chamber Choir's 17th season.
This season reveals the heart of the Houston Chamber Choir, its technical prowess and its luminosity, according to Robert Simpson, the choir’s founder and artistic director. During the season special guests will include acclaimed English conductor Simon Carrington, Houston jazz great Paul English and Grammy Award-winning vocalist Cynthia Clawson.
The choir's season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 with "Soul Music of Tchaikovsky, Tavener and Górecki." Written in 1878, this is music of Old Russia; it’s ancient, profound and mystical. Also included on the program are "Song for Athene" by John Tavener and Henryk Górecki's "Totus tuus."
The performance will be held at Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway, Houston.
Season subscriptions are available by visiting the choir website, www.houstonchamberchoir.org, or by calling 713-224-5566.
