Family, faith inspire her achievements
“This year has really been a good year for me,” Caitlin Copeland said. “I feel like I've really grown within myself and realized more who I am. I've been working hard to maintain straight A's, and I recently received All District Honorable Mention for softball. However, I don't believe I could have done any of this without my family and most importantly without God. What I'm most proud of is how my faith has grown and continuing to learn about Christ and what he's done for me.”
School: Lutheran High North
Student Name: Caitlin Copeland
Age: 15
Grade: 10
Accomplishments: Honor Society member, All District Honorable Mention for softball, Our Savior Lutheran valedictorian, Texas Student Achievement Award
Favorite Class: “English because I hope to be an English literature teacher.”
Favorite thing to do after class: “Play volleyball, softball, cheer.”
Favorite book: “ ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ because it seems like a simple story and plot, but it really has a depth and meaning that is really charming and appealing. I also like the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series because of the style of writing. It's very complex and descriptive, and it has amazing character development.”
Favorite Website: “I think my favorite website is IMDB because you can look up movie trailers and look up actors as well.”
Favorite Song: “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood
Favorite TV Show: “ ‘Once Upon a Time’ because it combines mystery, romance, reality and fairy tales.”
Favorite Movie: “ ‘The Avengers.’ I liked the actors and the combination of action and humor. I love movies when all the good guys come together.”
Ambition: “I really want to teach English literature when I grow up because I love the structure and deep meaning it gives. In literature, one sentence can mean so many things. I also love teaching. I love the feeling when you help someone achieve something. I also want to make English and literature as enjoyable for others as it is for me. And I would also like to write a book sometime.”
