Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce to hold awards banquet

Dr. Lynda Chin is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce will hold its 22nd annual awards gala at 6 p.m. June 7 in the Kim Son Ballroom, 10603 Bellaire, Houston.

"The Spirit of Entrepreneurship" will be the theme of the gala, which will include a reception, silent auction and awards program.

Professor Lynda Chin will be the keynote speaker at the event. Chin is the co-founder of AVEO Pharmaceuticals and founder of Metamark Genetic.

According to the press release, Asian Chamber of Commerce President Linda Toyota said, "Several of the entrepreneurs have been honored more than once, benchmarking their increased success in the marketplace. We invite the entire Houston community to take part in this special occasion. The celebratory atmosphere, networking and infectious entrepreneurial energy will be stellar."

Honorees for the event include Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner Vivek Israni, founder of Test Masters Educational Services; Executive Leadership Award winner Shahid Javed, chief procurement officer of BP; Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award winner Albina Rippy, founder of YogaOne Studios; Outstanding Professional Award winner Keiji Asakura, owner of Asakura Robinson Company LLC; and Outstanding Business Award winner Phoung B. Tran, CEO of Pho Saigon Vietnamese Noodle House.
