Fatal shooting at Heights club triggers lawsuit
A mother is suing after her son was shot and killed at a Heights-area nightclub.
Michelle Calloway, on behalf of the deceased Jaylon Calloway, filed a wrongful death lawsuit on April 30 in the Harris County District Court against Deidre Marie Sam, Club 2020, in the Heights, and Thien Huong.
Calloway says on May 1, 2010, the defendants failed to provide adequate security for the 1,000 people patronizing Club 2020, located at Leeland Avenue in the Heights, and this resulted in the shooting death of her son Jaylon.
According to the brief, someone shot Jaylon in the head after a fight broke out in the club.
Calloway is seeking damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Mark Junell.
