St. Thomas golf team wins tournament
The St. Thomas golf team won its first state championship since 2005 by defeating Antonian High School from San Antonio by six strokes on the last day of the tournament.
The team's total score over the two-day tournament was 616. Its score after the first day was 310, and it improved upon that with a score of 306 on the second day to secure the win. Senior Richard Le and junior Tommy Kherkher tied for fifth overall and were named All-State golfers.
The championship marked the team's fourth title since 2000, and its first under Head Coach Billy Tuten.
“This team was on a mission from the beginning of the season,” St. Thomas Athletic Director Mike Netzel said in a press release. “They continued their outstanding play when it mattered most, and we are tremendously proud of their accomplishments."
