Bayou Village School hosts Waldorf education talk
Parents interested in finding out more about Waldorf education (also known as Steiner education) can attend a presentation by educator, author and consultant David Darcy from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Bayou Village School in the Heights.
Conceived in 1919 by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf education is a fast-growing concept found in more than 900 schools around the world. The system is based on the principle that children learn in different ways while in different physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual stages.
Darcy is a proponent of Waldorf education and is the author of several Waldorf publications. He has been a teacher, an admissions director and consultant to homeschool and charter school teachers. His three children are all Waldorf graduates.
To attend the presentation, called "Education in Sync with Child Development," register at 713-499-0598 or bayouvillageschool@yahoo.com. A donation of $10 per individual or $15 per couple is suggested. Child care will be available for kids ages 3-11.
For two years, Bayou Village School has offered pre-K through eighth grade, with plans to add high school. The environment encourages respect for nature and prepares children to approach the world with confidence and compassion. To learn more, visit www.bayouvillageschool.org.
Bayou Village School is at 747 E. 18th St. in Houston.
