Harris County Sheriff's Office partners with Special Olympics
Harris County Sheriff Adarian Garcia was among the joggers and walkers at the 5-0 for S.O. 5K Walk/Run on April 22 to benefit more than 3,500 Special Olympics athletes in the Houston area.
Funds raised will go to the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, in which police worldwide deliver a "Flame of Hope" through the streets of their communities to the Special Olympics Games.
Special Olympics Texas facilitates athletic training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Garcia and other members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) collaborated with the University of Houston and the National Latino Peace Officers Association to raise money and awareness.
