Internationally renowned jazz musicians will perform at 8 p.m. May 11 for Homegrown Houston at the Hobby Center's Zilka Hall, located at 800 Bagby St.

This year's celebration is known as Homegrown Houston – 3G: Three Generations of Houston's Best Jazz Artists. The musicians include pianist and composer Joe Sample, NEA Jazz Master flutist Hubert Laws and vocalist Jewel Brown, who lent her voice to Louis Armstrong in the 1960s. All three of these musicians are native to Houston and internationally renowned for their contribution to jazz music and rhythm and blues.

These three performers will be joined by special guests Anibal Ambert, Jordan Donald, Andre Hayward, Chase Jordan, Horace Alexander Young, Darrell Lavigne, Horace Grigsby and Clyde Adams.

With the help of the Music Doing Good in Schools performing arts organization and its program director Aisha Ussery Adams, this event will attempt to introduce music to the lives of students and stimulate creativity.

Tickets to this event cost $25 and can be purchased online at www.thehobbycenter.org or by calling 713-315-2525. All proceeds will go to the Music Doing Good in Schools Outreach Fund.
