Alley Theatre has cast, crew set for Up Against play
The cast and creative team are set for the Alley Theatre's production of Theresa Rebeck's “What We're Up Against.”
The production is scheduled to begin previews on May 11, with the official opening night scheduled for May 16, running through June 10 on the Alley Theatre's Neuhaus Stage.
Scott Schwartz, whose previous works with the Alley include “Mauritius,” “Othello” and “Much Ado About Nothing,” will direct the play.
The production will feature Alley Theatre Acting Company members Chris Hutchison as Weber and David Rainey as Ben. Making their Alley Theatre debut will be Nancy Lemenager as Janice, David Andrew Macdonald as Stu and Julia Motyka as Eliza.
Creative crew includes: Kevin Rigdon, scenic and lighting design; Alejo Vietti, costume design; and Josh Schmidt, sound design.
Rebeck is an accomplished playwright and Pulitzer Prize nominee. Her works include “Seminar,” “The Understudy,” “Mauritius,” “The Scene,” “The Water’s Edge,” “Bad Dates,” “The Butterfly Collection,” “Spike Heels,” “Loose Knit,” “The Family of Mann,” “View of the Dome” and “Omnium Gatherum.” An author and a producer as well, Rebeck has received numerous awards for her contributions, including the Writer’s Guild of America Award for Episodic Drama and a Peabody Award for her work on “NYPD Blue.” Some of her more recent work includes the creation of the TV drama “Smash,” appearing on NBC.
