HISD contacts ground beef suppliers
All beef suppliers for Houston Independent School District have been contacted to confirm they do not use lean finely textured beef, also known as "pink slime," following concerns raised recently in the media.
As of Wednesday, March 21, all suppliers have confirmed that they do not use the controversial product. HSID officials have issued a statement confirming they will decline to purchase any products that contain lean finely textured beef. District officials also inspected approximately $800,000 worth of meat stored in the food services facility to confirm it does not contain the "pink slime."
