State Rep. Walle honored for infant-mortality work
Texas Rep. Armando Walle (D-140) recently received a plaque form IMPACT at the United Way Resource Center in the Heights.
Rep. Walle was recognized for his sponsorship of legislation to create a maternal mortality review process for Texas that would identify trends and recommend quality improvements to tackle the problem. Though the bill did not pass this year, Rep. Walle plans to resubmit it during the 2013 Texas Legislature. IMPACT (Impacting Maternal and Prenatal Care Together) is a collaborative headed by the Harris County Hospital District to address the causes of infant and maternal mortality. The membership includes healthcare providers, community-based organizations, non-profits, city, county and state government agencies and community advocates.Related Stories
