Crockett students learn real-world money lessons
Angel Soliz of Crockett Elementary and Harris County Department of Education AmeriCorps member Tammy Nguyen participate in Kids Day at Frost Bank.
Crockett students recently took part in “Kids Day at Frost Bank” at the Harris County Department of Education.
Kids Day at Frost Bank provided an entrepreneur opportunity for after-school students from 16 area schools. Students gained hands-on lessons in economics that they learned through an established after-school curriculum.
The fast-paced marketplace featured homemade goods such as T-shirts, photo frames, pet rocks and jewelry. Sponsor Frost Bank supplied employees to act as bankers and examine the goods.
The event also commemorated National AmeriCorps Month as 20 CASE AmeriCorps members worked within after-school programs.
