HS baseball: Kinkaid defeats John Cooper
Kinkaid defeated John Cooper in District SPC South baseball action on Monday.
Kinkaid, 14-8-0 overall and 3-1-0 in district play, won the game, 8-6.
Senior captain first baseman Jay Mullen went 3-for-3. "Everything [Mullen] hits finds a hole," Kinkaid coach Bobby Eggleston commented.
Steven Laswell and Baker Tilney pitched well in limited duty, Eggleston said.
Kinkaid will start tournament play Friday morning against Casady. "We’re in good position," Eggleston said. "We just need to go up there and keep playing good baseball. We’ve been getting pretty good pitching and some timely hitting."
Monday’s loss drops John Cooper to 18-13-0 on the season and 3-5-0 in district games.
