'Love In' protest today seeks to save Love Elementary
Heights residents are staging a "Love In" at 4 p.m. today at Love Park to try to persuade Houston ISD representatives to vote to keep Love Elementary open.
All are welcome to meet at the park, which is adjacent to the school at 13th Street and Lawrence, and are encouraged to wear red. HISD reps will be meeting with the PTO at 5:30 p.m. Peaceful protestors will have small signs to show support for the neighborhood school.
Those organizing the grassroots effort believe it's important to show HISD representatives how much the neighborhood residents and students care about the school and want it to remain open. The Houston ISD is voting on whether to close Love Elementary School on Thursday, March 10.
Love Elementary is located at 1120 W. 13th St.
The event is also described as a flash mob, and those attending will sing "All We Need Is Love," by the Beatles. Lyrics are:
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn
How to play the game
It's easy.
There's nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn
How to be you in time
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love
All you need is love
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
