City council redistricting to be focus of community meetings
With the release of the 2010 U.S. Census, the City of Houston is beginning the process of re-districting.
The city's charter requires that the Houston City Council expand to eleven single-member districts at such point that census data demonstrates that the city's population exceeds 2.1 million residents.
The city is interested in hearing from citizens and welcomes suggestions for the configuration of the new council districts.
In the Heights area, a meeting will be held at Jeff Davis High School (1101 Quitman St.) on Monday, March 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
