Volunteers needed for Feb. 26 tree planting in Heights
Planting trees in Houston not only beautifies the city and helps the environment, but it can bring the community together, too.
That's what organizers are hoping will occur at an event in the Heights area this weekend. Operation "Plant a Tree" will be adding oak trees along Jensen Drive and Tidwell Road this weekend. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 26.
Those who would like to pitch in or simply come and enjoy the event can learn more by contacting William Trevino at 713-229-0900 or Criselda Romero at 832-393-3003. Volunteers will be gathering at the intersection of Jensen and Tidwell on Saturday morning.
Operation "Plant a Tree" is sponsored by the Greater Northside Management District, Trees for Houston, Houston City Council Member Ed Gonzalez, and State Representative Armando Walle. The group has already planted more than 70 trees in Houston's District H.
