BBQ to raise money for fallen HPD officer's family
Houston Police officers will hold a barbecue Friday to raise money for the
family of a fellow officer who died last month.
Officer Robert Curl, who served in the department's Mid-West Division and
Positive Interaction Program, died Dec. 16 of medical complications,
according to Officer Wayne Pate.
"An officer with HPD for 19 years, Robert left behind a wife and two young
daughters," Pate says. "His death was unexpected.
"He had only 10 months left [until] retirement," Pate adds.
The barbecue will be held at 11 a.m. at the Houston Police Officers Union
Building, 1602 State St. The food costs $8 per plate, and all proceeds go to
help Curl's family.
For tickets, reach Sgt. M. K. Hong at 713-735-2062 or Officer James Sabota
at 713-308-9071.
Donations, payable to "ATO - Robert Curl," can also be sent to:
The Assist the Officer Foundation
