Woman arrested after chase through Harris County
A woman led police on a high-speed chase in northeast Harris County Monday morning after she was questioned in an assault case, authorities said.
The chase began shortly after 10 a.m. while Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constables were investigating reports that a juvenile may have been assaulted by a group of adults in the 2900 block of Fulton.
Deputies said Rayna Michelle Polk, 35, fled while she was being questioned in the case. She dropped a purse that held a stolen semi-automatic pistol when she got into her car, authorities said.
Polk was chased along several residential streets before leading police onto the Eastex Freeway. She surrendered to police in a parking lot in the 3600 block of Tidwell.
Polk is facing charges for felony evading arrest and possessing a stolen weapon. She was on probation for forgery at the time of her arrest, authorities said.
