Heights theater company to present Neil LaBute play
Theater LaB Houston will welcome the Neil LaBute play “Reasons to be Pretty” to its stage beginning Jan. 5 at 8 p.m.
The play will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through Feb. 5. Performances also will be held on Sundays, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30, at 5 p.m., and Feb. 3, at 8 p.m.
This marks the Houston premiere of the play, which follows the story of a man’s social circle, which gets thrown into turmoil when comments are bandied about over who is pretty and who is not.
America’s obsession with physical beauty is confronted headlong in LaBute’s work, which is part of a trilogy of plays the playwright penned on the subject. The other two works, “The Shape of Things” and “Fat Pig,” both were nominated for major drama awards.
Mark Adams directs the play and Lauren Dolk, Bobby Haworth, Mike Yager and Rebekah Stevens star.
Theater LaB Houston is located at 1706 Alamo.
Ticket prices range from $25 to $30 and are available by calling the theater’s box office at 713-868-7516 or by visiting www.theaterlabhouston.com.
