St. Andrew's church to celebrate centennial in 2011
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will observe its 100-year anniversary as a parish in 2011.
To celebrate the centennial, St. Andrew's has planned an entire year of events and observances that will honor a century of ministry and involvement in the life of Houston Heights.
On Friday, Jan. 14, the Festival Eucharist will take place with Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori.
In February, the Evensong contemplative music service will be held on Friday, Feb. 25; a High Tea and Book Signing will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26; and the Celebratory Holy Eucharist will be on Sunday, Feb 27.
On Saturday, April 30, the Spring Bazaar and Children's Art Festival will take place.
On Sunday, May 1, the Holy Eucharist, Historical Marker Dedication, Picnic and Mayfest will occur.
In July, there will be a Community Sock Hop on Saturday, July 30, and the Holy Eucharist and Ice Cream Social will be on Sunday, July 31.
On Sunday, Oct. 9, the St. Andrew's Episcopal School will host its 10th Anniversary Celebration.
And in November, the Holy Eucharist with Bishop Andy Doyle and Centennial Celebration Reception will be Sunday, Nov. 20.
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church has a long history in Houston Heights, organized as a congregation of the Episcopal Church in February 1911. The church is located at 1819 Heights Blvd.
