SNAP to offer low-income pet owners free services in Heights area
The Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) will provide free spaying and neutering for animals belonging to qualifying low-income dog or cat guardians.
SNAP will provide free spaying, neutering and Houston city licenses to qualifying pets, as well as rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats spayed or neutered that day.
This free service is provided for those who qualify for Food Stamps, TANF, Medicaid, the Harris County Hospital District Gold Card, SSI/SSD, free school lunches, Major VA Disability or Section 8 Housing.
The SNAP advance team arrives as early as 6:30 a.m. and encourages clients to arrive about 6 a.m. A lottery will be conducted to determine the client's place in line, and the mobile clinic arrives around 8 a.m. All dogs and cats must be restrained by leash or carrier and should not have food after 10 p.m. the night before surgery.
The service will be provided Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the West End Multi Service Center in Heights, 170 Heights Blvd.
