HHA focusing on security, safety

Remember that the Houston Heights Association will host its monthly meeting focusing on security and safety issues 7 p.m. Monday at the Heights City Hall & Firestation, 102 W. 12th at Yale.
Guests will be former District H Councilmember and now Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, HPD Patrol Division Captain John Kovar, Harris County Precinct Ofc. Carol Trautwein and representatives from the HPD Positive Interaction Program and various law enforcement agencies.
And on the same topic, the organization's Houston Heights Westside constable program is now open for registration. The Westside is the area between:
-W. 20th on the north,
-Yale St. on the east,
-White Oak Dr. on the south, and
-N. Shepherd Dr. on the west.
Initial patrol is set up to be eight hours/day, five days/week to be determined by the constables office as the highest crime time for that particular patrol area. The program would begin this January.
To initiate the Constable Program on the Westside, a minimum of 300 people must register and pay a $255 annual fee. Deadline is Nov. 15. If the HHA does not collect from the minimum number of people, all monies will be refunded. If you pay by credit card, an $8 processing fee will be deducted from your refund ($247).
