Celtic Festival Sunday

The Cass Academy Walkers are among the groups scheduled to perform Sunday at the annual Celtic Festival, to be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1819 Heights Boulevard. (Though, most of the festival will actually be in the parking lot of the church, which is at the corner of Yates and West 19th.)
This festival is always one of the more fun things to do in the neighborhood, and if the weather is nice, you walk out feeling Scottish, and, to be frank, isn't that always a good thing to be?

2009 Celtic Festival & Gathering of the Celts Set for February 15
HOUSTON, TEXAS, January 15, 2009--The 2009 St. Andrew's Episcopal Celtic Festival will be held in conjunction with The Gathering of the Celts on Sunday, February 15 from noon to 5:30 pm at 19th Street and Heights Boulevard in the Houston Heights.
The festival will begin immediately following the church's 10:30 am service as bagpipers lead everyone to the "Kirking of the Tartans" and on to the opening musical performance. The day's schedule of entertainment on two stages includes the world champion St. Thomas Episcopal School Pipe Band; Jed Marum, Hugh Morrison, Constant Billy - Bill Galbraith & Emily Standish, Celtic Voyage, Kristen Jensen, Kelley Fair & Friends, Celtic Chorus of Houston, Ghost of a Rose, Good Time Scottish Country Dancers Cass Academy of Irish Dance, McTeggart Irish Dancers and Kilderkin International Dancers (KIDS).
In addition to music and dance, the afternoon will feature more than 30 artisans and craftsman selling handmade jewelry, a variety of original art, Celtic and clan-related accessories, woodcarving, textiles, handbags, quilts, holiday dcor, children's toys and games, and much, much more!
Participants will also enjoy great food and drink--including turkey legs, Scotch eggs and cobblers. The children's area will offer games and crafts for kids of all ages such as Jacob's Ladder and the log challenge and castle moonwalks.
