Boys & Girls Clubs open technology center

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston's John & Cissy Havard Club opened the first Club Tech Center of Excellence in Houston on June 15.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America used money donated by Microsoft and Comcast to finance Club Tech, with the hope of bridging the gap between the information divide.
This new center offers users Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, robotic kits, music, photography and film editing, and web and graphic design. Members learn critical workforce skills from creating a resume using word processing to designing websites and restoring computers that help them perform better in school and expand their future career opportunities, said Angela Hodson, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston president and CEO in the press release.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston says the Club Tech program influences about one million children and young adults throughout the world. For more information, visit www.bgclubs-houston.org.
